Break the law, hire an expert lawyer.
Get sick, seek a medical expert
Building a home, seek an architectural expert
Designing a bridge, hire an engineering expert
You get the idea…
These experts are highly regarded in our society and for good reason. They are doing their part to help us live better lives and they make tremendous contributions every day.
Too often however, another set of experts are overlooked; the experts who work with their hands providing critical services to our communities.
We hear it every day. College costs have reached the breaking point. I am living this right now with my high school senior. But what about the men and women who chose a different path; the vo-tech or trade school student? When was the last time we made a big deal about the kid electing NOT to go to college for the traditional 4-year degree, but rather to pursue a career with his or her hands?
Sadly there is a lot of mis-information and a lack of appreciation for the experts who work with their hands each and every day.
You see these professionals throughout your daily routine. The brightly colored reflective sweatshirts standing in front of the Wawa coffee counter at 5 am on their way to the construction site. The gentleman with the white pants and t-shirt covered in paint from the dozens of projects completed in this uniform. The men and women who rise early and work through all weather conditions to apply their expertise and use their hands to keep our environment clean, our infrastructure intact, our lawns manicured, trash picked up and so much more. These experts are a dying breed and why wouldn’t they be? Our society has not placed enough value on these career paths and it is time this changes.
At The Lewis Group we are proud to help our team members identify career pathways. We are investing in programs to inspire, educate and promote growth and development to reach unlimited career possibilities. We place tremendous value on the services performed by these men and women and we are excited to provide a foundation to build a great future.
The silver tsunami is coming; an inconceivable shortage of these expert hands to deliver our goods and services. It is time we encourage these career paths, celebrate these choices and recognize these professionals for the expertise they bring to our daily lives.
