The Lewis Group Offers Continued Support to PA Project

Volunteering manpower and equipment to enhance Veterans' Cemetery Garden

The Lewis Group has partnered with S.A.M.E. (Society of Military Engineers) Philadelphia Post on a project for veterans at Washington Crossing National Cemetery (WCNC) in Upper Makefield Township, Pennsylvania. The new veterans cemetery for Southeastern Pennsylvania is near the historic village of Dolington and construction will be completed in phases over fifty years. The Lewis Group began their ongoing support to this project in 2019 and are proud to continue their involvement.

WCNC is a United States National Cemetery and serves as a final resting place for veterans in the greater Philadelphia area. The impact of the S.A.M.E. Post Committee and its diverse volunteer efforts has yielded a significant upgrade to the WCNC Scattering Garden that now features proper drainage and a defined landscaped area for veterans’ sacred cremains to be put to rest by their loved ones. The project was recognized with the Service Award from the Philadelphia chapter of S.A.M.E. to the entire project team.

The Lewis Group, along with our equipment partner, Foley CAT, volunteered support in labor, equipment and materials to assist in upgrades and construction of the new secondary retaining wall and stormwater runoff area at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery at the Bucks County site. Many of The Lewis Group team members who volunteered for this project are also proud veterans and were eager to contribute based on their previous service within the US armed forces.
